Xiaomi Poco C40 Review: Specs & Price

Released by Xiaomi under its Poco sub-brand in June 2022, the Xiaomi Poco C40 is a budget smartphone that offers impressive features at an affordable price.

With its 6.71-inch IPS LCD display, dual rear cameras (13MP+2MP), 5MP selfie camera, large 6000mAh battery, and rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, the Poco C40 provides a solid user experience. Powered by the JLQ JR510 octa-core chipset with Mali-G57 MC1 GPU, it offers up to 4GB of RAM for smooth performance.

 

Design-wise, the Xiaomi Poco C40 stands out with its plastic body and textured leather-like finish on the back panel, giving it a premium look and feel. The device is relatively thick, measuring 169.6 x 76.6 x 9.2 mm and weighing 204g. The back panel features a wide rectangle camera module housing the dual-camera setup, LED flash, and the POCO logo, along with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor at the center.

The phone boasts a 6.71-inch IPS LCD display with a waterdrop-style notch at the top center for the front-facing camera. The display offers a resolution of 720 x 1650 pixels, resulting in a density of 268 ppi. It has thin bezels on the sides and a slightly thicker chin at the bottom. With 400 nits brightness, the screen is easily viewable even in bright sunlight, although not as bright as more expensive devices.

Other notable features of the Xiaomi Poco C40 include a 3.5mm headphone jack, USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer, volume and power buttons on the right side, and a SIM card/MicroSD slot on the left side. The device also sports a speaker on the top and another one on the bottom.

 

The Xiaomi Poco C40 comes in three color options: Power Black, Coral Green, and Poco Yellow, offering a simple yet elegant design for a budget smartphone.

Camera-wise, the Poco C40 impresses with its dual-camera setup consisting of a 13-megapixel primary camera and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The front-facing camera houses a 5-megapixel sensor in a small notch on the display. The primary camera produces good quality images with decent detail and color accuracy in well-lit conditions, while the depth sensor helps create portrait-style photos with blurred backgrounds. The 13-megapixel primary camera also features Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF) technology for quick and accurate focusing, even in low-light conditions.

The Poco C40's camera app offers a range of useful features, including LED flash, HDR, and panorama modes. The device can record videos in 1080p resolution at 30 frames per second (fps), which is standard for budget smartphones and sufficient for most users' needs.

Under the hood, the Xiaomi Poco C40 is powered by the JLQ JR510 processor, an octa-core chipset built on an 11nm manufacturing process. It also includes the Mali-G57 MC1 GPU for graphics processing. The phone offers either 4GB or 6GB of RAM and either 32GB or 64GB of internal storage.
